For long term visitors, apartments are the better choice. But you might run in problems, because some owners of apartments are not willing to rent to foreigners. Water and electric are charged seperately.
Normaly you need to pay a deposit af 1-2 months rent.

TIP:
- check you water- and electric meter, together with witnesses
- switch off all electric devices, and then check if the meter is still running!
Overcharging is not uncommon, or you neighbours might try to save money and connect to your electrical installation.
